My Name Is Axe!

I love adventure and really love fly fishing, overlanding, bush crafting, bow hunting and just navigating back country exploring with my dad! We do everything together except going to the restroom! That is where I draw the line! Just kidding! Yep, I even go to the restroom with Chad when we are at home which is my way to check in on him.

My training comes from Northwest Battle Buddies! Yep, those humans trained me to be the best I can be for my human, Navy veteran Chad! I had 7+ months intensive training. The humans at Northwest Battle Buddies carefully trained us service dogs to match with a Veteran handler. Chad and I had five more weeks of training and bonding, creating the ultimate partnership. I hold 360 hours of training, and I perform several unique tasks to help my Veteran mitigate and manage the debilitating symptoms of PTSD.

PETTY OFFICER AXELSON

So, people are wondering why my name is Axe! Well, I am named after Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Axelson. Matthew Gene “Axe” Axelson (June 25, 1976 – June 28, 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL who was killed in the War in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his actions and valor during Operation Red Wings, in which he was killed. He served in that operation along with Michael Murphy, Daniel Dietz, and Marcus Luttrell. Dietz and Luttrell were also awarded the Navy Cross, the Purple Heart, and the Navy good conduct medals, where Murphy received the Medal of Honor.
